It’s the runway walk of your life! Are you ready to step up?

Last week, I attended an online Summit hosted by Fashinnovation with some of the fashion industry’s heavy hitters: including Rebacca Minkoff, Rachel Zoe, Arizona Muse and Nigel Barker. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was super inspiring in many ways. While listening to the sessions, I discovered that Rebecca Minkoff has a line of cool T-Shirts  that encourage people to vote and run for office. For every Limited Edition T-shirt sold, Rebecca Minkoff will make a donation to Vote Run Lead, a non-profit organization that empowers and trains women to run for office.

Photographer and producer Nigel Barker was one of my favourite speakers as he came up with a line that truly resonated with me: It’s time to walk the runway of your life!  And to turn on that runway like you’ve never turned before!

A big yes to that!

He was speaking in terms of what you choose to do with your life going forward but also about values we choose to embrace every day when we make consumer choices and purchases.  Who will you support going forward?   He encourages us to support brands that benefit Mother Nature, and embrace values that benefit the planet, fashion workers and society as a whole.

It was a great talk and you can find it on YouTube here.

What values will you embrace going forward into this new era and this new world? What brands will you support? Make sure you do your research and understand what steps are being taken by the consumption choices you make.  Mother nature needs us to ask the hard questions and shop more consciously.

Here are some questions to ask:

*Who made my clothes and in what conditions?

*Has this brand paid its supliers and workers during the pandemic?

*What materials were used?

* What type of dyes and tanning processes do theu use

*Do they recycle old pieces and accept second hand donations for the purposes of creating a circular economy?

Are you ready for the runway walk of your life?

 It’s time to shine…and…

You have the power to see through all of the illusions. It’s time to step up!
