An Interview with Molly Lambourn of Sophie Stokes

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with UK artist Molly Labourn about her line of quirky jewelry made with recycled plastic.  Speaking with her made my heart sing:  Molly isn’t only into recycled materials, but she’s also into vintage shopping, second hand finds and promoting women’s rights and businesses too.  This one of my passions and life missions: to promote brands and labels making a difference on the planet and Molly definitely does just that!

A fine arts student, Molly is super creative and inspiring.  Inspired by her family lineage of strong women, she created her label Sophie StokesHer brand of quirky designs is meant to inspire women to become their true selves.  She believes in fierce and strong designs that add colour to the everyday and bring art into the lives of women.  Her designs are sustainably produced because she believes in being kind to our planet.

She grew up wearing second-hand finds, exploring charity shops and living in a treasure trove of vintage kitsch ( music to my ears!) and that’s why her jewellery is printed onto 100% recycled non virgin acrylic.

Her motto: Fashion does not need to be new or ‘on trend’ to be exciting!

This image was on the Sophie Stokes Instagram page with a caption about the positive benefits that come with a refusal to dress like everybody else. A call to dress the way  hat pleases YOU and makes you unique!

In our podcast interview ( which I highly recommend you listen to!),  we discuss her passion for art, how her art informs her quirky jewelry and also a recent exchange program she attended in India and how this trip inspired her. Molly also shares tips for other artists and entrepreneurs wishing to launch  their own labels and to spread their wings and fly.

Thank you Molly for all that you do for the planet, for women and for being YOU!

I love her Frida images and her fun and colorful aesthetic.
